Our commitment to privacy
We (North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Council) are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of any personal information that we hold. This privacy notice will tell you how we look after your personal information tell you about your rights.
We will ensure that your personal information is kept secure, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, and we will only collect the minimum information necessary to fulfil a particular purpose; when we don’t have a need to keep information about you, it will be disposed of in a secure manner.
It is important that you read this privacy notice together with any other privacy notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal information about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your data. This privacy notice supplements the other notices and is not intended to override them.
There are currently 3 ways in which we collect personal information:-
- Information and service requests
If you request information or a service via email, letter or telephone, we may need your personal details to process that request.
There is a range of online forms to allow you to make comment or request particular services.
Each form requests your contact details and if you do provide personal information we will use it only to process your request and, thereafter in accordance with the individual Data Protection registrations for the services provided.
To help us monitor website trends and statistics, our web server collects visitor information such as IP address, city or country of origin, type of browser and operating system used, pages visited and duration of visit. These statistics are anonymised and we do not use this information to identify individuals.
